Despite a downturn in the offshore market, Denmark's Maersk Supply Service A/S, part of the A. P. Moller-Maersk Group, expects to take delivery of the first of six new Anchor Handling Tug Supply (AHTS) vessels from Norway's Kleven Verft yard towards the end of this year, with the other units to be delivered in 2017. The ships will be built at Kleven's two shipyards in Norway, Kleven Verft and Myklebust Verft. The Danish company has also taken options on a further four vessels of the same design that, if taken up, would be delivered in 2018. All the AHTSs, to be built to a SALT 200 design furnished by Norway's Salt Ship Design, will make use of integrated propulsion systems to be supplied by Waertsilae. These will be composed of Waertsilae 32 and 20 diesel generating sets, along with two Waertsilae controlled pitch propellers and five Waertsilae transverse thrusters per boat.
