A new dimension in rescue beacons

McMurdo recently presented two new personal locator beacons (PLB) for the first time. The FastFind MAX and the Fastfind MAX G (with integral 12 channel GPS) have 48-hour operational battery life from activation, and they both operate at temperatures as low as-20℃. With an attractive price tag, the MAX and MAX G are the latest additions to the well known Fastfind range of McMurdo PLBs. The PLBs are designed to be carried by individual professional crews as a safeguard against life threatening incidents such as a man overboard situation or vessel in distress. Once activated, the PLB transmits a unique identification signal along with the users current position via the international search and rescue satellite system operated by COSPAS SARSAT on 406MHz. The signal is then quickly passed to regional search and rescue authorities.
