EBDG to work on new Massachusetts ferry

US naval architect Elliott Bay Design Group (EBDG) has been awarded a contract to put together a new freight / passenger ferry for the Woods Hole, Marthas Vineyard & Nantucket Steamship Authority (SSA), which operates a series of services linking the Massachusetts mainland to its outlying islands. Intended to replace the SSAs oldest ferry, Governor, by Spring 2016, the proposed vessel will feature a length of just over 71m and the capacity to accommodate slightly over 500 passengers. Meanwhile, the car deck will feature space for 50 standard vehicles, or 10 trailer vehicles.
