Working together, a customer and an engineer discovered a way to reduce component count, shrink package size, and save money, too. A Melexis customer had attempted to implement a universal radiofrequency remote control system in passenger cars. The system as initially designed required multiple transmitters and receivers to accommodate a broad frequency range of dedicated devices. The concept was to replace many different controls for systems. These are typically used for garage door openers, gate actuators, alarm system activation and deactivation, security and convenience lighting, and restricted access systems for private clubs or residential developments.
