Inter-vehicular communication needs to be secure and anonymous as the effective and robust operations including security and privacy are critical for the deployment of vehicular ad-hoc networks (VANETs). The security of VANETs has become an imperative matter of consideration, which is prone to disparate security threats. The masquerade attacks and distributed denial of service attacks are among them that hinders the availability of the network. In this paper, a secure genetic-based framework is proposed for the detection and prevention of masquerade and distributed denial of service attacks in VANETs. The proposed framework is very efficient in the detection and prevention of network anomalies that can affect the network performance. The proposed scheme is evaluated over genetic model defined using Gaussian modelling. The analysis and evaluation of the adduced framework is also presented in the paper.
