Maritime Guardians

The U.S. Coast Guard's motto is Semper Paratus, always ready to safeguard U.S. interests at home and around the world. "America's maritime guardian" has 11 missions it is required by law to perform: ports, waterways and coastal security; drug interdiction; aids to navigation; search and rescue; living marine sources; marine safety; defense readiness; migrant interdiction; marine environmental protection; ice operations; and law enforcement. The nation's current fiscal climate will see reductions in both force and budget, yet the Coast Guard must continue to execute its mission set and prepare for emerging threats.
