Handbook of Innovation Systems and Developing Countries: Building Domestic Capabilities in a Global Setting

The literature on Innovation Systems (ISs), puts learning processes at the base of social and economic development, and is concerned with the actors, institutions and mechanisms that enhance knowledge creation, accumulation and diffusion. This literature, which has emerged in the past three decades, has mostly focused on developed countries and the Handbook of Innovation Systems and Developing Countries aims at expanding this perspective. In particular, its goal is to explore, at the policy and academic level, the links between the study of innovation and that of economic development. This is a compelling task as there are many (largely under-explored) synergies between the two branches.
