SCIENCE AND CULTURE OF SOCIETY: APPROACHES OF NIRMAL KUMAR BOSE

摘要

The Indian Science News Association recently undertook a panel discussion in Kolkata Doordarshan. The main focus of the discussion centred around the genesis and development of its celebrated journal Science and Culture. The panelists were concerned, among other things, to touch upon a very common issue of the equation between science and culture in the context of society at large. The purpose of the present paper precisely is to reiterate those issues raised in some details now in a contextual milieu. A concrete example of the approaches of Professor Nirmal Kumar Bose, (one of the editors of Science and Culture from 1964-67), has been taken up with regard to his study of society and culture of India.
