Hydrothermal Synthesis of Mn-Doped ZnSe Quantum Dots and Effects of Surface Overcoating on Their Optical Properties

摘要

Aqueous Mn-doped ZnSe quantum dots (d-dots) were directly prepared in water under hydrothermal condition through nucleation-doping strategy using safe and low-cost inorganic salts as precursors. Influences of the MPA/MnAc2 ratio, growth time of MnSe nuclei, Zn/Mn precursor ratio and pH value on the photoluminescence (PL) were investigated systematically. The effects of post-preparative introduction of the ZnO or ZnS shell around the bare Mn:ZnSe cores on the optical properties were studied comparatively. The remarkable improvements of PL were achieved after the effective deposition of inorganic shell. The results showed that the Mn:ZnSe/ZnS d-dots were more photostable than the Mn:ZnSe/ZnO d-dots under the open air condition.
