Composite applications (xApps) support new, cross-area business processes, using the functions of existing applications in heterogeneous system landscapes. Part of SAP NetWeaver, the composite application framework provides innovative technologies, tools, and methods for developing composite applications.Current business applications generally run within components like customer relationship management (CRM) or supply chain management (SCM). They exchange data - such as structured documents - with each other. Preconfigured business processes determine the flow and path that the structured data takes. Within the components, workflows enhance the processing of business objects and the interaction of the relevant employees. Depending on the employees' roles, a portal provides access to business intelligence data and unstructured information from knowledge management applications.
