Why do ship managers pour millionsrnof dollars into setting up in-house training facilities when high-quality maritime education is already available to them? Take the example of India, which has a number of established nautical training institutes. Yet, Anglo-Eastern has opted to have its own pre-sea academy near Mumbai in addition to the existing, well-equipped post-sea centre in a Mumbai suburb.
