The citizens of Jackson, Miss., are benefiting from the latest DuraPatcher pothole patcher, a product manufactured by the Cimline pavement maintenance group. The new P5 pothole patcher is a one-man, in-cab operated machine that provides the safest method of patching by keeping workers protected from traffic. "We are sold on the spray-injection method of patching, which has resulted in permanent repairs," a city spokesperson said. Spray-injection is accomplished in four steps with the new machine: 1. Compressed air is used to clean debris and water from the pothole; 2. An emulsion tack coat is applied; 3. Emulsion-coated aggregate is applied with sufficient force to compact the mixture while filling the hole; and 4. A dry coating of aggregate is applied so traffic can resume immediately.
