Use of Push Message Alert to Save Children Left Behind in Locked Cars

摘要

Heatstroke related fatalities of children left behind in vehicles on hot days has been a problem on the rise. This invention describes a method (o broadcast push message alert to by-standers near the vehicle when a child is locked inside on a hot day. The vehicle must be equipped with telematics capabilities along with an occupant detection system. When the vehicle is parked, the occupant detection system senses the presence of a child left behind. If detected and current cabin temperature is determined to be dangerously high, (1) vehicle intimates the driver assistance data center which sends a distress message (2) to the driver's mobile phone. If no response is recorded from driver within a stipulated time, (3) the data center conveys the vehicle's details such as model/make/color, its location and time elapsed since lock-out to local telecom operators. This information is broadcasted as a push message (4 and 5) to mobile phone users in the vehicle's proximity for immediate assistance (similar to AMBER™ alert). Emergency Medical Services (EMS) will also be alerted simultaneously (6). Alert will end once manual intervention is detected in the vehicle (e.g. door/window opened).
