The disclosure relates to a 90° electrical connector comprising a separate pick and place cap. In the prior art designs, the cap for pick and place by a vacuum nozzle or the shielding has to be assembled in advance, prohibiting the direct access to the leads underneath. Hence, for a 90° connector which is press fitted onto a Printed Circuit Board, one must drive the press fits of his leads via other connector features into their plated through holes. Since the leads have to remain insulated, this is often plastic with the following disadvantages: 1. Extra tolerances and elements which can alter the final position of the press fit into the PCB, causing more variations in performance.
