When track tools consisted pretty much of track bars and hammers, standardization and simplification didn't represent much of a problem. Today's advanced designs and electronic controls are another story. What kinds of standard features are railroads asking for in the large m/w equipment field? How are suppliers responding? What's being done to make the job easier and safer not only for those who operate the machines, but also those who maintain them?
