My December review of the National Rail Timetable was titled: 'End of the road for NRT co-operation' (RAIL 870). I lamented its downgrading from the high standards achieved over the 35 years in which I had been privileged to be involved, and added: "I'll always remain a student of the work, but shall no longer waste time attempting to improve its accuracy." Fortunately, a meeting at Waterloo followed with Andrew Haines, whom I have known for many years, and who had recently become chief executive of Network Rail.
