Manchester Metrolink light rail services resumed across the city centre on schedule at 06.00 on November 2, reports Tony Miles. This followed a £22m track renewals programme which also saw platforms at St Peter's Square and Piccadilly Gardens rebuilt.rnThe work is part of a £100m programme to overhaul the existing system in preparation for the Phase 3a expansion of the network. The city centre is the most heavily-used part of the Metrolink network and sees 250 services a day. This is set to increase to 400 as new routes to Rochdale, Droylsden and Chorlton-cum-Hardy enter service over the coming years.
