NR consults on freight sites

On October 29 Network Rail opened consultation on the proposed transfer to NR of the majority of the property interests held by DB Schenker Rail (UK) Ltd. Responses are due by November 28. The DB Schenker portfolio comprises 250 freight sites, some owned outright and others held on leasehold. According to NR, the proposed transfer would 'facilitate competition between rail freight operators by making a number of key sites more accessible'.
