On March 13 the 05.15 Chiltern Railways Birmingham Moor Street - London Marylebone service became the first passenger train to operate between Leamington Spa and Banbury since the route was closed by a 350 000 tonne landslip at Harbury on January 31 (RBI479 p1). 'We are delighted to restore direct services between London and the West Midlands', said Chiltern Railways Managing Director Rob Brighouse. 'Thanks must be given to our partners at Network Rail, who have worked tirelessly day and night to make the area safe, and to our passengers for their patience'.
