HS2 engineering skills questioned

Concerns are growing over an apparent lack of high-speed rail engineering expertise at High Speed 2 Ltd, where according to Chief Executive Simon Kirby, the average age of his project team is just 32. The current HS2 Ltd management team includes former Network Rail engineers with little high-speed experience and others from the Olympic Delivery Authority and Heathrow Terminal 5 without a railway background. Former Engineering Director Chris Dulake, who moved from Crossrail Ltd bringing experience in the project management of a major rail scheme, left in March to join Mott MacDonald.
