The bendability of Al-Mg-Si alloys containing 0-0.095 wt /100 excess Si and solution treated at 510-550℃ was studied. Bendability decreased with an increase in Si and a solution temperature rise even though elongation increased. The decrease in bendability was caused by a higher strain concentration by increas- ing the yield strength and decreasing the n-value, and by the growth of grain boundary precipitates, which reduced the fracture limiting strain.
