Heat treatment of a component (1) made from a metal alloy comprises heating a hollow body (12) open on its lower side during solution annealing. The hollow body is immersed in a quenching liquid (6) in front of the component to form the gas stream to pre-cool a region of the component before quenching. An independent claim is also included for a device for carrying out the above heat treatment.
