When the idea came up for a weathering feature it was suggested that we take a WWII model and do it from scratch, using knowledge gleaned from others. This was likely to be a long process and by chance Andy Dunan, former chairman of the Gloucester Club and I were on the flying site when he produced a beautiful YT Spitfire for its first flight. It has an unusual scheme, different registration and an excellent weathering job. Why not do a piece on the how and why of Andy's model? This was just the beginning because as we chatted I discovered his partner in crime was Laurie Hughes, another Gloucester member who had done a similar thing on a YT Hurricane (reviewed in the December '06 issue of RCMW) but in a slightly different way.
