These days nearly all Lithium Polymer (LiPo) battery packs made up of more than one cell come pre-fitted with balance leads. When connected to a charger fitted with balance ports the balance lead enables the charger to monitor the voltage of each individual cell during charging and discharging. By keeping the cells 'in balance' a LiPo will perform more efficiently and will last longer.
