摘要

James Dickaty CMgr responded to the article on CMI Insights 'When leaders lose their rag': "We are all susceptible to being overwhelmed and losing our temper at work, but there's something more than that going on: the endemic problem that organisations hire senior leaders with personality disorders. People with narcissistic personality disorder, for instance, are effective because they are ruthless. Because of a clinical inability to empathise, they do not care about their employees beyond their capacity to perform. This is great when difficult decisions have to be made and executed, but these leaders also have a fragile ego and become enraged when they perceive their subordinates letting them down; they micromanage because they think no-one is as good as they are; they will not consider other professional opinions as they look down on their colleagues; and they never, ever admit that they're wrong. It can destroy a company. It's all very well to treat the symptom of a manager losing their rag, but better to understand the cause."
