Ford is investing ￡70 million in its Bridgend plant to produce its next generation of low-emission petrol engine.rnThe 1.6-litre four-cylinder EcoBoost petrol powertrains will go into production within two years and are aimed at providing an alternative to hybrid and diesel efficiency. The engines feature tur-bocharging and direct injection technology to deliver improved fuel economy and fewer emissions.rnJohn Fleming, Ford of Europe chairman and chief executive, said: "The Bridgend team will play an important role in delivering these engines, which add an innova-rntive ingredient to petrol engine technology to meet future customer needs around the world."
