Ford invests $145 million in engine plant upgrade

Ford Motor Co. will undertake a $145-million upgrade at its engine plant in Cleveland to equip the facility to produce new engines for its 2017 F-150 line.The plant will be upgraded to produce second-generation 3.5-liter EcoBoost engines, Ford said Feb. 26, with the engine being targeted for use in the 2017 F-150 Raptor. The upgrade is already underway, a spokeswoman for Ford confirmed to AMM, with production of the new engine slated to begin later this summer.
