摘要

Climate change and a mandatory greenhouse gas emissions cap will figure more prominently into the 2008 elections, as a senior Democratic aide confirmed last week that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid will force a vote in the coming months on a key global warming bill. The cap-and-trade bill (S. 2191) has elicited passionate support and opposition from both political parties since it was introduced in the fall by Senators Joseph Lieberman, Independent-Connecticut, and John Warner, Republican-Virginia.
