Air Products announces blue hydrogen plant in Louisiana with 'world's largest' CCS component

Air Products announced a $4.5 billion blue hydrogen energy complex in southeast Louisiana Oct. 14 that the company says will be the “world’s largest permanent carbon dioxide sequestration endeavor to date.” The facility, to be located in Ascension Parish south of Baton Rouge, will produce more than 750 MMcf per day of blue hydrogen while capturing about 95% of its CO2 emission, the company said in a statement. Captured emissions will be compressed and transported to multiple sequestration sites via a pipeline corridor that extends 35 miles eastward. More than 5 million mt per year of CO2 will be permanently sequestered one mile deep in geologic pore space obtained from the state of Louisiana.
