US lawmakers introduce bill to speed Energy Department LNG export permitting

A group of mostly Republican lawmakers has introduced federal legislation that would accelerate permitting of LNG exports to countries that do not have free trade agreements with the US. The Natural Gas Export Expansion Act would amend the existing Natural Gas Act to have the US Department of Energy treat such countries the same as countries that do have free trade agreements with the US, as long as trade is not otherwise prohibited.
