EU CO2 prices set fresh 2.5-year high as auction supply bites

The price of carbon dioxide allowances under the EUrnEmissions Trading System rallied to a two-and-a-half-yearrnhigh in August, on the back of a sharp cut in primary supplyrnfrom government auctions. December 2015 EU Allowancernprices in the over-the-counter market averaged €8.08/mtrn($9.22/mt) in the period August 3-19, compared withrn€7.76/mt in July, a month-on-month increase of 4%.
