Ferro Polymer Additives Division opened two heat-stabilizer plants in Europe last year for the production of liquid and mixed-metal stabilizers. Products are tailored to meet the needs of local processors in the wire and cable, flooring and plastisols markets. For European wire and cable producers, Ferro's calcium/zinc (Ca/Zn) products include both low cost and general purpose grades for 70℃ jacket and insulation. The general purpose grade, Therm-Chek~(~R) 7201P, is said to have processing characteristics similar to lead. For 90℃ jacket and insulation, and 105℃ cable and automotive applications, Ferro offers several lead-free Ca/Zn stabilizers with low water absorption.
