Vendors promise security fixes for unsecured convergence links

The prospect of fixed/mobile-convergence services offered via unsecured fixed-broadband connections is creating concerns about security, prompting vendors to develop multiaccess convergence gateways to secure mobile networks. Although the use of femtocells and Wi-Fi connections can help ease the traffic burden on the mobile RAN, an operator that uses those technologies as part of an FMC offering could lose control of service quality and make the mobile network vulnerable to security threats, particularly when it does not own the fixed-broadband network being used.
