Librarians have been formidable contestants on JEOP-ARDY! We're naturals-we like knowing stuff and figuring out how to find stuff we don't know. I was afraid that Alex Trebek was selling us out when he hosted IBM's Watson natural-language computing platform as a JEOPARDY! competitor-and it won. Contestant Ken Jennings' response, "I for one welcome our new computer overlords," echoed the fears of more than a few info pros as we watched Watson trounce its human competitors. Would our services be threatened by a librarian version of Watson?
