Shell will reduce some card merchant fees for August

Shell is cutting some credit card fees, effective Aug. 1. The company will reduce debit card fees from 1.5% plus 10cts per transaction to 0.85% plus 15cts, and will cut AMEX charges from 2.45% plus 15cts to 2.35% plus 15cts. Wright Express charges get lowered from 2.9% plus 30cts to 2.35% plus 30cts and Discover sees the processing rate cut from 2.5% to 2% with the transaction fee remaining at 10cts. Visa rates didn't technically change, but Shell extended the temporary rate of 1.75% plus 13cts a month beyond its original July 31 expiration date. There was no change to the MasterCard rate which remains at 1.65%, plus 13cts.
