Legislation changes round-up

This month sees another round of changes to health and safety legislation including major revisions to RIDDOR reporting. The changes, in force from 1October, include: The Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 2013 (RIDDOR) which sees the classification of 'major injuries' to workers replaced with a shorter list of 'specified injuries'; the existing RIDDOR list of 47 types of industrial disease replaced with eight categories of reportable work-related illnesses; and fewer reportable types of 'dangerous occurrence'. The changes reflect Professor Lofstedt's recommendation to simplify RIDDOR reporting.
