Despite the growing body of evidence supporting the need to remain active and continue or resume 'normal' activities in order to manage low back pain (LBP), a study in Australia found that general practitioners with a special interest in low back pain, compared with those without that special interest, were more likely to believe that complete bed rest and avoidance of work is appropriate for acute cases.
