Chinese government agencies may reassign responsibility for some future forging manufacture for China's nuclear program as a consequence of problems encountered since 2008 by China First Heavy Industry, or CFHI, in making forgings for the first two AP1000 PWRs, Asian sources said this week.rnProblems in Chinese forging production had been anticipated by AP1000 top management beginning in 2007. But the fallout resulting from the subsequent failure of a designated Chinesernequipment supplier to make some forgings to US quality specifications might slow down China's drive to quickly localize foreign PWR technology, according to some foreign industry executives in China.
