Dose limit of 20 mSv/yr said to be achievable

A report by the Working Group on Risk Management of Low-Dose Exposures was presented to Japan's Atomic Energy Commission on January 17 by Nobushige Na-gataki, professor emeritus of Nagasaki University. The working group was established at the request of Environment Minister Goshi Hosono, who is also Japan's nuclear crisis minister, for the purpose of consolidating scientific opinion on the health effects of low-level radiation exposure of 20 mSv per year, on the special radiation-protection needs of children and pregnant women, and on risk communication.
