NuScale Power: One year after the DOE award

The year 2014 has been an exciting one for NuScale Power. As the sole winner of the second round of the Department of Energy's competitively bid program "Cost-Shared Development of Innovative Small Modular Reactor Designs," NuScale Power was awarded matching funds that could total as much as $217 million in five years. Since this announcement, NuScale Power has accelerated its development efforts. The funds will be used to continue performing the engineering and testing needed to proceed through the Nuclear Regulatory Commissions design certification process, and to complete other first-of-a-kind engineering work.
