Belarus Regulator Grants Operating License for First Nuclear Plant

The Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant,also known as the Ostrovets Plant, has been granted an operating license for Unit 1, according to the Nuclear and Radiation Safety Department of the Belarusian Emergencies Ministry (Gosatomnadzor).On October 23, the Board of the Emergencies Ministry decided in favor of amending the license of the state enterprise Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant to carry out activities in the areaof usage of nuclear energy and sources of ionizing radiation. The amendments will allow the enterprise to start launching the first energy unit,” the agency's press service stated.
