Regulator Grants Operating License for Russia's Floating Plant

Russia's nuclear plant operatorRosenergoatom has received anoperating license for its floating nuclearpower plant, Akademik Lomonosov, fromthe country's regulator Rostechnadzor.The facility, which houses two35 MWe KLT-40S reactors, is nowallowed to operate for 10 years, up to2029. The floating plant is scheduled tobe transferred from the Baltic Shipyardto Rosenergoatom in the near future,with connection to the Chukotenergopower grid and the city's heat networkscompleted by year end. The plant willeventually replace the ChaunskayaCombined Heat and Power Plant inPevek and the Bilibino Nuclear PowerPlant in Bilibino.
