The attack in New York was an act of insane terror that cannot be tolerated and must result in the punishment of the perpetrators. However, we should not forget that the real question at this time is not "Who has done it?" but "Why was it done?" America needs to ask itself how a great nation, envied by many, can be hated by so many others, and I was pleased to see that you raised this question in your Oct. 15 cover story, "Why They Hate Us." What went wrong with the "free world," and when and where did it go wrong? This question has to be asked by the American people, and not just its leaders. Any future action by America needs to be supported by all nations on this globe.
