Continuing the series featuring images from our treasured photographic archive or member collections, in this issue we draw on John Joyce's images from the Ava archive. Born in Christchurch in 1932, John Alistair Joyce spent his childhood there and Greymouth before the family shifted to Wanganui. John's father was a railwayman and while that undoubtedly fostered his interest in railways, John commenced work as an apprentice printer with a local newspaper, maintaining his trade through his working life on both sides of the Tasman. For much of his working life John lived in Australia, mostly in Perth.
