You will be autonomous in daily activities, responsible for receiving samples for sequencing, carrying out the appropriate quality assessment of those samples and constructing the libraries according to the collaborator's specifications. You will also be responsible for ensuring that the consumables necessary for the QC and libraries are in stock in order to avoid delays and/ or create bottlenecks in the sequencing pipeline. In addition, you will be required to understand and adopt new protocols and techniques coupled with liaison with other members of the Genome Technology Department to ensure a smooth laboratory work flow within a high throughput sequencing environment. Once optimised, you will transmit the new protocols and techniques to the other members of the team. Ideally you will have a degree in Molecular Biology or equivalent with a PhD in Molecular Biology or equivalent being desirable. You will also have experience in the use of MS office programmes and have excellent written and oral communication skills. Furthermore, extensive laboratory experience and understanding of molecular biological techniques and knowledge and understanding of the principles of DNA/RNA sequencing is required. This is an indefinite position.
