London Underground to buy losing Bank Station upgrade bids

London Underground (LU) is to compensate losing bidders on the $970M Bank Station upgrade project, even though none of their ideas or innovations are to be used in the final scheme. LU project bosses confirmed that the Tube operator will buy all the losing bidders schemes to bolster its planning application. It believes that by demon- strating that it has four fully-worked up schemes will convince planners that it has chosen the best option. The project will create a new ticket hall at surface level and includes the diversion of around 570m of the southbound Northern Line running tunnel.
