The need to evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of the delivery of educational services has never been more urgent. Computer technology offers a promising strategy for monitoring these performance indicators. At Bowie State University, a part of the University System of Maryland, computer software is being used to chart the progress of Its effort to attract and hold on to its minority students majoring in science and math- Ematica. A "Bowie Matrix" was developed to aggregate several sets of performance Indicators into a smaller set and to monitor it over time.
