Piedmont and Catalonia: the unification of Italy and Spain. Some comparative remarks

During the 19th century, the process of political unification in Italy attracted serious attention throughout the Continent and beyond. Foreign observers interpreted the events from the perspectives of both their native countries and their political leanings.
