摘要

Survivors of the Holocaust experienced many challenges in rebuilding their lives after the war. For the children of survivors, these challenges continue as many second generation survivors are sharing their stories.rnThis book concerns the life of Leah Smilovitz, a fictional character who represents the author in her relationship with her late mother. Leah not only faces the conflicts of adolescence, she also deals with the conflicting emotions of her parents, who met in a refugee camp after World War II and then settled in Montreal. As she grows up, Leah realizes that her family is remarkably different from the families of her friends. Her parents have irrational fears, are often overprotective, and find social situations difficult.
