It amazes me how many people have never been to Liverpool/Why would you go there?'they ask. For my little group of what one reader called 'superannuated anoraks' the fact that it's cheaper than Switzerland can't be ignored (day rover £4.75!) but it is also by far the most interesting city outside London.
